Merchants of Magick is a 1-8 player crunchy roll and write game that plays in 30-45 minutes.  In the game, you take on the role of a magical merchant competing to earn the most coin by crafting items and researching spells to create magically enchanted items that you can sell to the mighty Adventurers defending the realm.

In the base game, four polyhedral dice are rolled each round, then each player selects two of these dice to craft items or research enchantments for their shoppe. This action is taken simultaneously so there is little to no downtime. Customers travel from shoppe to shoppe, so you will need to stock the exact combination of item and enchantment on the order cards in front of you. If a shoppe can’t sell an item a customer needs in a timely manner, they will become impatient and visit the competitor next door!

2 Brand New Expansions!

In the Dangerous Business Expansion, monsters are at the gates and each Merchant is hoping that they can equip their sponsored Adventurer with enough items and equipment to fend off the horde of creatures. Dangerous Business replaces sponsored Adventurer cards with new Adventurer boards.  As you craft new items, your Adventurer’s prowess in battle will increase. Once it meets or exceeds a monster’s health, you can defeat the creatures to set up powerful combos.

Draught of the Dragons collects several different smaller expansions into one box adding a ton of variety and intrigue.  Draught of the Dragons adds a new phase to the game where players pick an action: Brewing more potions, advertising to a central pool of customers, stealing them from your opponents, or grabbing potion recipes that provide powerful new abilities.  It also adds new Order cards and a push your luck mechanic with Order Reservations.  Read on to learn more!

Dangerous Business and Draught of the Dragons collect different expansion modules which can all be mixed and matched together with the base game of Merchants of Magick and with each other in any way desired by your gaming group.  

What's New in Dangerous Business

Sponsored Adventurer Boards + Dangerous Business sheets

Swap out the original Sponsored Adventurer cards for Adventurer boards where your Adventurer gets stronger as you craft them new items.  The goal is to get their combat skill high enough to defeat new Creature cards that mix up the combos and effects for Sponsored Adventurers. Best of all, we have 100 new sheets to track your progress against these creatures.

Defeat Creatures

Creature cards are played in combination with the new Adventurers and offer a way to mix up the standard bonuses and combos from crafting items for your Sponsored Adventurer.  The first player to build their Adventurer strong enough to defeat the Unhallowed will pocket more Coin since once they are defeated, you flip them over to their Minion side.

Enhanced Solo Mode

Square off against the Traveling Merchant in our enhanced Solo mode.  Instead of just going after a high score, the new solo AI will nab orders based on your dice rolls, get stronger as the game goes on by flipping over tokens, and dedicate resources to Masteries to beat you to big points if you're not careful. You can even combine this expansion with Draught of the Dragons to play solo against the Traveling Merchant with the Action Selection phase, Advertising, Potion Recipes and more!

What's New in Draught of the Dragons

Collectors Module

16 extra Order cards for customers that are Collectors looking for two matching magic items with the same Enchantment. Mix these into the base game or combine with the double enchantment cards to make an Advanced Order deck.

Reserving Orders

Players have opportunities to Reserve Orders by placing one of their available Guild tokens on the card and taking it out of the table rotation before having the required items or enchantments to complete it. Be careful though! Each reserved order is worth -2 coins at the end of the game if you don’t complete it.

Action Selection

This module introduces a brand new phase of the game where players simultaneously choose an Action card to brew more potions, advertise to reserve advanced orders, entice customers from other shoppes (optional), and reserve potion recipes (if playing with that module).

Potion Recipes

Play with 4 (of 8) Potion recipes based on each enchantment which give you a new use for Potions by spending them to activate powerful effects. You can only hold 1 Recipe at a time and you must spend the Potions of the exact colors shown to trigger its effect, but if you've completed the Recipe’s corresponding enchantment, you may spend Potions of any color.  After activating a Recipe, it is returned to the Central Market board.
